Experienced Computer Crime, Wire & Mail Fraud Attorney in San Antonio, Texas

Seek the assistance of a respected criminal defense legal professional

In my 27 years of legal experience, I have handled computer Criminal Cases, and wire and mail fraud cases, as both a prosecutor and defense attorney. This unique background gives me the ability to see your case from multiple points of view and determine the best defense strategies. When you require legal counsel, contact Kevin L. Collins, P.C., a dogged attorney who will never give up on you.

The common types of computer-related crimes

Texas is serious about cybersecurity and prosecuting computer crimes, with its Computer Information Technology and Electronic Crime Unit leading the charge. There are many computer crimes, each of which has a unique set of investigation and criminal defense techniques. Common computer crimes include piracy, hacking, child pornography, cyberbullying, phishing and more.

In addition to the defense I provide for computer crimes, I also offer my services as a corporate crimes attorney for the following types of fraud:

  • Mail fraud: When a federal system such as a U.S. post office is used during an illegal act, it is a federal offense. One common example of mail fraud is a letter advertising a great deal if you spend a certain amount of money, but the deal is fraudulent. Misrepresentation of merchandise is another type of mail fraud.
  • Wire fraud: Wire fraud is similar to mail fraud, but it involves using technology to facilitate the fraud. It can take place via e-mail, websites, telephone and more. One common example of wire fraud is using the Internet or telephone to lure an unsuspecting victim into “lending” another person money, promising a profitable repayment. Because of use of the phone or Internet, wire fraud can be a federal offense.
